"I visited the Three Bears Alaska location in Kenai on Sunday, March 1, 2026. I always buy my boneless chicken thighs there. When I arrived, the meat department staff was stocking them. I picked a package dated March 1 with a best-by date of March 7. The employee told me I should cook the chicken that day because it had been sitting in the cooler for about a week and “had a smell,” though not a rotten smell. He also suggested coming on Mondays when the new shipment arrives. This seemed odd, but it was the only chicken available at the time, and I trusted the dates, so I bought it. When I opened the container at home, the chicken smelled awful—like it had gone bad. This was extremely disappointing. A supermarket should not sell chicken that smells spoiled while labeling it as good for seven days. That’s $15 wasted. Three Bears needs to do better in the meat department. I’ve always enjoyed their boneless chicken thighs and shouldn’t have to worry about buying a rotten product."
